Bata India is a cherished and iconic footwear brand, renowned as the largest retailer and leading manufacturer of footwear in the country. As a proud member of the esteemed Bata Shoe Organization, Bata India’s legacy dates back to its inception as Bata Shoe Company Private Limited in 1931. The company embarked on its journey in 1932 with a small venture in Konnagar, near Calcutta. The foundation for what would become an integral part of India's footwear history was laid in January 1934, with the construction of the first Bata building, now famously known as Batanagar. Over the years, this site expanded significantly, doubling its area, and earning the distinction of being the first manufacturing facility in the Indian shoe industry to receive the coveted ISO: 9001 certification.

In 1973, the company made a pivotal move by going public and adopting the name Bata India Limited. Since then, Bata India has solidified its position as the largest footwear retailer in the country, boasting a vast retail network of over 1375 stores. These stores are strategically positioned in key locations, ensuring extensive reach across metros, mini-metros, and towns throughout India. Bata’s modern and stylish stores are designed to offer an exceptional shopping experience, showcasing a diverse range of high-quality products that cater to the tastes and preferences of millions of customers.
