The first store opened in the lively Pondy Bazaar, quickly establishing itself as a popular spot for stylish and budget-friendly clothing. In 2007, Instore expanded with a second location in Purasawalkam, and in 2018, it introduced children's and men's wear at its Velachery store, catering to families. The Anna Nagar store, which opened in 2022, further emphasizes Instore's dedication to quality fashion in Chennai.  

In May 2019, Instore launched its e-commerce site, allowing customers to shop online for their favorite styles. This move into e-commerce shows Instore's commitment to making sustainable fashion accessible and convenient for everyone.  

What makes Instore unique is its focus on sustainable fashion. With over 95% of its team being women, Instore promotes empowerment and inclusivity in the fashion world. The in-house design team is dedicated to creating affordable, sustainable designer clothing that appeals to women of all ages. Instore takes a responsible approach to fashion, aiming to combat the negative impacts of fast fashion by prioritizing quality and sustainability.  

Instore’s collections prominently feature South Indian handlooms, using natural materials like cotton and linen, along with traditional printing methods such as handblock prints, vegetable dyes, indigo prints, Kalamkari, Dhaboo, Bagru, Kutchi Ajrakh, and Ikkat. By working with master artisans from across India, Instore highlights the beauty and heritage of India's textile traditions in contemporary fashion.
